Anterior C5-6 Discectomy and Interbody Fusion - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This series of medical illustrations depicts a cervical spine injury and resulting anterior C5-6 discectomy and interbody fusion surgery. The pre-operative condition includes C3-4 vertebral spondylosis and C5-6 central and left sided disc herniation with compromise of the C6 nerve root. An image of compression of the spinal cord is also featured. The surgical procedure begins with a transverse incision in the neck, exposing the cervical vertebrae. C5-6 disc material is removed to decompress the neural elements. The endplates and anterior lips of adjacent vertebral bodies are drilled away with a bone drill to expose subchondral bone. Fibular bone graft is positioned between the vertebrae for fusion.

What attorneys say about MLA and The Doe Report:
"Thank you very much for the great work on the medical exhibits. Our trial resulted in a $16 million verdict for a 9 year old boy with catastrophic injuries, and the medical illustrations definitely played key role in the trial."

David Cutt
Brayton Purcell
Salt Lake City, UT

"For modern audiences, it is absolutely essential to use medical demonstrative evidence to convey the severity and extent of physical injuries to a jury. Your company's high quality illustrations of our client's discectomy surgery, combined with strong expert testimony, allowed the jury to fully appreciate the significance of our client's injuries.

We are very pleased with a verdict exceeding $297,000.00, far in excess of the $20,000.00 initially offered by the defendant. The medical demonstrative evidence provided by Medical Legal Art was an asset we could not have afforded to have been without."

Todd J. Kenyon
Attorney at Law
Minneapolis, MN

"I have a medical illustration created by Medical Legal Art at the beginning of every case to tell the client's story, usually before I depose the defendant doctor. The work product and cost-efficiency are outstanding. It is a situation where, as a trial lawyer, I don't leave home without it."

Rockne Onstad
Attorney at Law
Austin, TX

"Our practice involves medical negligence cases exclusively. We have six attorneys and one physician on staff. We have used Medical Legal Art's staff for every one of our cases over the past 12 years and have found their services to be extraordinary. The transformation of medical records into powerful graphic images has without fail been handled expertly, expeditiously and effectively translating into superb results for our clients, both in the courtroom and in settlement. Every case can benefit from their excellent work and we unqualifiedly recommend their services. They are the best!"
