This stock medical exhibit shows C5-6 and C6-7 disc herniations with surgical discectomies and fusion in a series of illustrations. The first two illustrations show the pre-operative condition in sagittal views of the cervical spine, including a C5-6 disc herniation and a C6-7 disc herniation with spinal cord impingement. The third illustration shows the first step in the procedure, including the creation of a transverse incision into the anterior neck. The fourth illustration shows the removal of the C6-7 intervertebral disc with pituitary rongeurs. The fifth illustration shows the preparation of the vertebral endplates for grafting. The sixth illustration shows the placement of bone graft between C6 and C7. The seventh illustration shows the placement of the fusion plate and screws from C5-7.
